Organic Farming Workshop ( 7 March 2026)

Sustainable Project

To foster a sustainable learning environment and promote a green campus, the Student Affairs Office of Hong Kong Chu Hai College organized an “Organic Farming Workshop” on 7 March 2026. The event attracted students to step out of their classrooms and connect with nature, marking the beginning of the Green Campus Initiative.

The activity integrated traditional culture with hands-on farming experiences, offering a diverse and enriching program. During the farm tour, students learned about the principles of organic farming and immediately took part in planting seedlings and applying fertilizers. They planted their own organic chive pots and experienced the joy of harvesting fresh seasonal vegetables, savoring the journey from farm to table.

In addition to the agricultural activities, the workshop featured a traditional handicraft session. Students learned to make Hakka tea snacks (Cha Guo), gaining insight into the wisdom of traditional food culture. They also unleashed their creativity by crafting scarecrows, adding a touch of fun and artistry to the farmland.

Finally, the group visited the nearby Tin Hau Temple to explore local historical and cultural heritage, deepening their understanding of the traditional community. The workshop provided students with a meaningful day of connecting with nature and learning about sustainability through practice.
