Online & phone scams in Hong Kong continue to surge. 2025 full-year student data (for reference):
- Over 1,700 post-secondary students were scammed
- Total losses exceeding HK$180 million
Many local & mainland students have suffered losses ranging from several thousand dollars to several million dollars due to a moment of carelessness. Scammers often impersonate officials, college staff/professors, or use social media/online shopping to steal personal info or money.
